The benefits and uses of laminates

Aramid fibers are fibers with high mechanical strength, five times stronger than steel. Applied at the highest stress points of a finished part, they can be combined with carbon fiber for mixed composite materials.

The main characteristics of aramid fiber composite materials are: low density, heat, tensile and abrasion resistance, strong shear and compressive strength. They also undergo minimal expansion at high temperatures. For this reason they are widely used in the military in anything that necessarily needs to be bulletproof. They also find applications in aerospace and in the manufacture of composite parts, on bicycle wheels and as an asbestos substitute.
